Triple podium for Mason in Superbike season finale
Gary Mason rounded off his 2009 season with a win and two second places in the British Superbike grand finale at Oulton Park. Riding the Q8Oils lubricated Quay Garage Honda, Mason had already won the Mirror.co.uk Cup championship and was hoping to score sufficient points at the Cheshire circuit to secure a top 10 finish in the main MCE Insurance series.

Second fastest of the Cup riders in qualifying, Gary started the first race, on Saturday, in 18th place on the Superbike grid. The race was run over 12 laps, having been restarted after a serious crash involving Karl Harris on the third lap. Gary finished first of the Cup riders, in 13th overall, earning valuable Superbike points, followed across the line by fellow Cup racers Peter Hickman of Ultimate Racing and Team NB’s...

Mason still aiming for top 10 despite Silverstone slip
Newly-crowned Mirror.co.uk Cup champion Gary Mason took an uncharacteristic tumble at Silverstone while chasing a top ten finish in the main MCE Insurance British Superbike championship.

Suspension gremlins plagued Mason’s Quay Garage Honda during qualifying, as a result of which he had to settle for 19th position on the grid. However, following modifications to the front forks, Gary was running seventh fastest in morning warm up on race day.

However, the suspension issues resurfaced in Race One, and although Mason fought his way up the field, eventually taking the chequered flag in 14th place, it was not the result he had been looking for. Nevertheless he earned some valuable points and mounted the podium as the second Cup rider to cross the line, after Tommy...

Farquhar finishes season with a flourish at Scarborough
Q8Oils supported Ryan Farquhar completed his record-breaking 2009 season with another victory, this time at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough, bringing his total haul for this year to 61 wins.

Riding in sunny conditions in front of a capacity crowd at the 2.43-mile public road circuit, Ryan was hindered by a hand injury picked up at this year’s Manx Grand Prix. Having won his qualifying heat race, Ryan led the first leg of the Superbike contest from start to finish, withstanding intense pressure from Ian Hutchinson and Guy Martin, who ultimately collided on the final lap. He followed this up with second place in the combined 400/Mini Twins race, although he was the first of the Mini Twin riders to finish, but opted out of the Supersport 600cc race in order to rest his...

Farquhar breaks road racing record at Killalane
Q8Oils supported Ryan Farquhar, who took three more road race wins at Killalane on Sunday, bringing his tally of Irish National road race wins to 121 breaking the all-time Irish record of 119 set by the legendary Joey Dunlop.

Winning the Supertwins by a massive 20-second margin, Ryan maintained his 100% Championship record in the class. However the following Open race was a much closer contest, with Ryan eventually crossing the line 3 seconds ahead of Michael Dunlop, (Joey’s nephew), having set the fastest lap of the race at 111.770mph. Ryan duelled with Dunlop again in the 600cc Championship race, this time beating the younger rider by just half a second for his third win of the day.

However, the Grand Final race very nearly ended in disaster, when Ryan ran...

Mason and Quay Garage Honda lift the Cup at Croft
Gary Mason rode the Q8Oils-lubricated Quay Garage Honda to victory in both superbike races at Croft to secure the 2009 Mirror.co.uk Cup titles, even though there are five races still to go before the season finishes.

The 30-year-old Lichfield rider had recognised that his biggest challenge would be to stay focused at the North Yorkshire circuit, which is one of his favourite venues. "It's getting to the business end of the season now and you can't let up for a second or someone will be there to capitalise straight away," said Mason prior to the race. He added; "The speed around Croft means that the adrenaline gets going but you need to temper that and make sure you race well and focus rather than just being reckless”.

Having qualified sixth on the superbike...

Gary Mason has the Lincs effect at Cadwell
Gary Mason has extended his lead in the Mirror.co.uk Cup following a flawless performance at Cadwell Park over the weekend.  Once again Gary qualified in front of the other Mirror.co.uk Cup contenders on the Q8Oils lubricated Quay Garage Honda, relegating factory Honda rider Karl Muggeridge to the fifth row, next to Peter Hickman of Ultimate Racing Yamaha, who is Gary’s main challenger for the Cup.

In cloudy but dry conditions at Lincolnshire’s 'mini Nürburgring' Mason put in the fastest lap of the Cup competitors, crossing the line tenth of the Superbike riders, ahead of Chris Walker on the Motorpoint Yamaha and HM Plant Honda’s John McGuinness. Mason was the first of the Mirror.co.uk Cup runners home, with NB Suzuki's Tommy Bridewell and Yamaha-mounted...

Two more wins for Man of the Meeting Farquhar at Ulster GP
For immediate release 17 August 2009

Q8Oils supported Ryan Farquhar arrived at the International Ulster Grand Prix having claimed a win and a fourth place in the Dundrod 150 races just two days earlier. In what he described as “one of the toughest races I've ever had” Ryan achieved two wins, two seconds and a sixth from his five races at the Northern Ireland venue, plus the Man of the Meeting award.

Race day commenced with the Superstock race, which was held in two parts. Ryan led for the first three laps but in the second part Ian Hutchinson put in a stunning final lap of 130.117mph, nudging Ryan into second place by just 0.339 secs. In the following Supersport 600cc race the same two riders battled for victory, but this time there were seven more riders in the...

Farquhar passes the half century at Armoy
For immediate release 10th Aug 2009

Ryan Farquhar rode his Q8Oils lubricated Kawasakis to victory in the Open, Supersport and Supertwins classes at the inaugural Armoy Road Races. Ryan also claimed the lap record in each, bringing his total wins for the season to 52. He not only secured the Irish Road Race and Ulster Road Race Championships for each class, but also took the Duke Road Race Championship too. His joy was overshadowed by a tragic accident in the final Grand Final race that claimed the life of a spectator.

Following an untimed practice session on the brand new 3-mile circuit, grid positions were determined by Championship position, putting Ryan on the front row. In the 5-lap Supersport 600cc race Ryan took the lead from start to finish for his first...

TRIPLE TREAT FROM MASON AT BRANDS
For immediate release 10th Aug 09

Q8Oils supported Gary Mason was in sparkling form at Brands Hatch, winning all three of the Mirror.co.uk Cup races in Round Seven of the MCE Superbike Championship at the Kent circuit.

Mason had previously insisted that anyone doubting his Mirror.co.uk Cup credentials would be eating their words when the dust settles after Brands Hatch. However, this meeting would be a test of both men and machines, with an extra race on Saturday in addition to the regular two races on Sunday. Gary started in confident form by qualifying first of the Cup riders on the Quay Garage Honda.

From then on Mason was unstoppable; in Race One, held on Saturday, Mason set the fastest lap and took the Superbike Cup win from Martin Jessopp and...

Four by four from Farquhar at Mid Antrim road races
Four must be Ryan Farquhar's lucky number, because the Q8Oils supported rider won the Superbike, Grand Final, Supersport 600cc and Supertwins races at the Mid Antrim 150 - his fourth successive four-timer.

With changeable weather across the British Isles, practice conditions were wet, although Saturday's showers held off long enough for the race schedule to go ahead. Riding his 1000cc KMR Kawasaki, Ryan took a commanding 6.4 second win in the opening Superbike race. The following Supersport 600cc race was a much closer affair, red-flagged as a result of Michael Dunlop crashing out. In the re-run Ryan was under pressure from William Dunlop, crossing the line just 1.7seconds ahead of him for victory number two.

Ryan controlled the 4-lap Supertwins race from the...
