Quay Garage Racing and Q8Oils battle through red flags at Oulton Park
For immediate release 9 May 2008

James Buckingham fought his way through two red-flagged Superbike races at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday to emerge fifth in the Daily Star Cup. Following a practice crash in the wet on Saturday he qualified sixth among the Cup riders, well-placed to build on his solid results in the previous round at Thruxton.

Although Race One started in dry conditions, with the riders on slick tyres, rain began to fall heavily by the time they reached the first corner, with disastrous consequences, when Tom Sykes, Cal...

Positive Start to Season for Quay Garage Racing and Q8Oils at Thruxton
For immediate release 24 April 2008

James Buckingham demonstrated his commitment and consistency on his Q8Oils lubricated Honda Fireblade at Thruxton, overcoming a weekend of frustrations to emerge fourth in the Daily Star Cup.

Cold and wet qualifying conditions led to many upsets at the Hampshire circuit, leaving Buckingham, on the back row of the grid. This was frustrating for the North Devon rider, who was leading the Cup riders in qualifying at Brands Hatch in the previous round.
In Race One James made a strong start and held off several challenges from Martin Jessopp on the Riders Racing Honda to finish 24th overall (out of 32 starters in the Superbike class) and fifth in the Daily Star Cup.

Race two started under bright clear skies and...

Q8Oils develop new ‘greener’ lubricants that can save £2,000 in fuel per vehicle, per year
Q8Oils develop new ‘greener’ lubricants that can save £2,000 in fuel per vehicle, per year

Q8Oils has developed two highly fuel-efficient gear and transmission oils designed to improve fuel consumption and in turn reduce the CO2 output of trucks and buses.
Candidate Oils were tested under controlled conditions at the Motor Industry Research Institute (MIRA) proving ground. The test vehicles were driven at high speeds and simulated stop-start driving conditions - all with the sort of diesel you can buy on any forecourt. The tests were as close to the real world as can be. The tests proved that the new lubricants delivered fuel savings equivalent to £2,000 per truck per year.
The new oils are – Q8 T 66 a...

Quay Garage Racing make promising start in snow-bound BSB Cup

James Buckingham got off to a promising start to the British Superbike Cup at Brands Hatch, qualifying at the front of all the ‘privateer’ riders (and half a dozen factory riders too), on his Q8Oils lubricated Quay Garage Honda Fireblade.

His sterling effort, which placed him 16th on the grid, appeared to be in vain when round one of the British Superbike championship was cancelled due to heavy snowfall throughout the Sunday morning that prevented any track activity from taking place. However, the Race Director announced that the meeting will be rescheduled for 10/11th May and that the original grid positions will stand.

“We went...

Q8Oils are the Quay to Success in BSB for 2008
Q8Oils chosen as lubricants for Quay Garage Racing in BSB Cup - 2nd Feb 08

Q8Oils have been selected as official lubricant supplier to Quay Garage Racing, one of the most successful ‘privateer’ teams in the recent history of the British Superbike Championship.
This will be the fifth year that Leeds-based Q8Oils have actively competed in BSB and their record should keep Quay Garage on track to lift the hotly contested BSB Cup. In 2004, their first year in BSB, Q8Oils saw John Reynolds win the championship for them, followed by Gregorio Lavilla the following year. Airwaves Ducati took the Manufacturers’ title in 2006 and were runners up in 2007.

Quay Garage Racing, based in North Devon, also has an impressive...

Q8Oils backs campaign to quit smoking
Press Release 17 December 2007

Q8OILS SUPPORTS SYNTHETIC OIL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN FOR TWO-STROKE ENGINES

Q8Oils is backing an awareness campaign by the Motorcycle Community in Europe to promote the use of synthetic oil amongst owners of 2-stroke motorcycles and scooters in order to reduce emissions from these popular 'daily use' machines. The type of lubricant oil used in 2-stroke machines has a direct and immediate impact on their PM (Particulate Matters) emissions and there is potential for PM reduction in the range of 50% if riders choose cleaner synthetic options, hence the support of the EU Commission for the campaign.

Since 2-stroke engine oil is mixed with the fuel it reaches all moving parts of the engine, before ultimately...

Q8Oils consider their options for 2008 sponsorship
Press Release 26 November 2007

Following their fourth stunningly successful year in British Superbikes, Q8Oils have yet to make a decision on sponsorship for the 2008 season.

From the outset the relationship with Airwaves Ducati was built on success, as Q8Oils were lubricant suppliers to Rizla Suzuki in 2004, the year that they won the Championship. Having already backed one winning team, Q8Oils weren’t taking any chances and their R&D Department took the unusual step of funding controlled and independent Wind Tunnel & Rolling Road testing of the Airwaves Ducatis at MIRA’s world-leading automotive test facility near Warwick. The results were remarkable. Even using publicly available Q8 Moto SBK Racing10W/50 synthetic oil, the 999cc V-Twin Ducatis...

Q8OILS POWER LAVILLA TO END OF SEASON DOUBLE
15 October 2007

In a remarkable weekend Gregorio Lavilla qualified on pole and clinched the 2007 Airwaves Speed League by setting a new lap record as well as winning both races in the final round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch.

Leon Haslam completed the season with fourth and fifth place finishes, enough to secure his third place in the 2007 Championship. The team finished second in the Manufacturer's Championship, which they won last year, just 84 points behind Honda but a massive 244 ahead of third-placed Suzuki.

In a gripping first race Greg was in third position on his Q8Oils lubricated Ducati 999 when the safety car was introduced over three laps. Following the restart he soon moved into the lead before pulling...
