Q8Oils supported Ryan Farquhar arrived at the International Ulster Grand Prix having claimed a win and a fourth place in the Dundrod 150 races just two days earlier. In what he described as “one of the toughest races I've ever had” Ryan achieved two wins, two seconds and a sixth from his five races at the Northern Ireland venue, plus the Man of the Meeting award.
Race day commenced with the Superstock race, which was held in two parts. Ryan led for the first three laps but in the second part Ian Hutchinson put in a stunning final lap of 130.117mph, nudging Ryan into second place by just 0.339 secs. In the following Supersport 600cc race the same two riders battled for victory, but this time there were seven more riders in the pack, including William Dunlop, Ian Lougher, Guy Martin and Conor Cummins. With positions swapped on almost every corner, Ryan hit the front on the final run from the hairpin and crossed the line alongside Ian Hutchinson for a photo finish. Once analysed by the timekeepers, Farquhar was confirmed the winner by a margin of just 0.001 secs.
In the Supertwins race Ryan was dominant, finishing 37.2 seconds in the lead on his Kawasaki ER-6. Next was the Superbike race, in which Ryan rode Kenny Harker's Superstock machine. He compensated for a slightly sluggish start with several 130mph+ laps, eventually settling for sixth place. Back on his Kawasaki ZX-6R for the second Supersport 600cc race, Ryan came in second, behind William Dunlop, and in front of Bruce Anstey and Ian Lougher.
Ryan now heads to the Manx Grand Prix where he will be riding classic machines including a 500cc Paton, a 350cc Honda and a GS1000 Suzuki. Practice starts on Saturday 22nd August.
